Welcome to TheDoctorpreneur.com, a site by physicians for physicians who aspire to be, or are becoming, entrepreneurs.  Entrepreneur derives from the French verb entreprendere, to undertake.  It refers to anyone who organizes, manages, and assumes the risk of an enterprise.

I founded TheDoctorpreneur.com after a thirteen-year journey as a physician entrepreneur to make it easier for fellow physician entrepreneurs to succeed.  I want it to be a safe place where we can reflect and learn from one another.

I will focus on six areas to help entrepreneurs:

• Transition to new opportunities
• Formulate their business concept
• Communicate the value of their products and services to others
• Develop systems, so that that important details do not fall through the cracks 
• Learn skill-sets not commonly taught in medical school, residency, or fellowship training
• Participate in Mastermind Groups to discuss new ideas and hold one another accountable

I began developing this website when I was invited to be a SEAK course faculty member for their annual two-day seminar, “Non-Clinical Careers for Physicians“, September 12-13, 2009.  The title of my talk is ”Transitioning to Non Clinical Careers.”  

I want to hear from you, both aspiring physician entrepreneurs and those of you who are knowledgeable about software, devices, books and articles pertinent to entrepreneurs, and upcoming gatherings of physician entrepreneurs, such as the Physician Bioscience Commercialization Workshop October 3, 2009 in San Diego, under the auspices of the Society of Physician Entrepreneurs, of which I am a member.
